RECURRING EVENTS
First Monday of the month

Black Box Ink of Asbury Park Open Writers Forum

The group meets on the first Monday of each month for creative writers to connect, commiserate and strengthen each other in a workshop environment. The door is open to all aspiring writers who want to develop new work, fine tune existing work, or cultivate the courage to share. Read a bit of your short story, play, screenplay, memoir, novel, essay, poem, blog post -- any constellation of words, really -- and let us know how we can support you. Indicate whether you want general feedback, specific notes or simple encouragement, and be willing to offer constructive comments to fellow writers as well. It's a friendly atmosphere and a great way to meet other aspiring wordsmiths.

Time & Place: 7 pm at the Stephen Crane House, 508 Fourth Ave., Asbury Park

Third Sunday of the month

The Black Box Playwriting/Screenwriting Group

The Playwriting/Screenwriting group meets the 3rd Sunday every month for playwrights and screenwriters to connect, read their work and get feedback in a positive, supportive and nurturing environment. Actors and Directors are also welcome to attend the Group, connect with writers and either read or listen to new work. Writers bring in up to 20 pages of material to be read, hand out parts to readers and receive feedback on their work. The writers should indicate what kind of feedback they want to receive from the group. Feedback may include what works in the piece to more specific questions on content, structure, characters and dialogue or to no feedback at all. This is a great opportunity for playwrights and screenwriters to hear their work read out loud and see how to proceed with re-writes.

Time & Place: 1-3 pm at the Art Tank, 658 Cookman Ave., Suite 20, Asbury Park, the 3rd Sunday of the month with the exception of 6/15 which is a Saturday (no meeting on 6/16).
